Speaker: Prof. Dr. Seva Gantmakher (Institute of Solid State Physics, Moscow)

Prof. Gantmakher is the author of an excellent textbook titled “Electrons and Disorder in Solids”. He has graciously accepted our invitation to give a series of talks at our institute. His lectures cover subjects which are essential to the collaborative research group SFB 917.

The lecture series:

1. Electrons in metals (overview and important definitions)
2. Strong disorder in standard metals
3. Quantum corrections to conductivity
4. Localization and metal-insulator transitions
5. Conductance of 1- and quasi 1D-systems
6. Scaling hypothesis
7. Scaling hypothesis applied to 2D and 1D systems
